New: the France Overflight

After the "Flyover of Paris" in 2018 and more than 300,000 visitors, FlyView Paris, in co-production with Atout France and the Center for National Monuments, is launching "The Flyover of France", an out-of-this-world virtual reality experience that combines completely new aerial images and cutting-edge technology to make us fly like a bird over France's most remarkable sites.

After passing through the doors of a futuristic terminal secretly installed on Place de l'Opéra, visitors are welcomed in a new kind of boarding room. Takeoff is imminent. Equipped with a virtual reality helmet, the pilots of the day are propelled into the air for an incredible 10,000 km journey without leaving Paris!

Thanks to exceptional aerial images and spectacular moments of free flight, the experience allows you to discover like never before the most beautiful places and landscapes of France: the village of Gordes in the heart of the Luberon, the abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel, the special light of the castle of Azay-le-Rideau and the Pont du Gard, the impressive cliffs of Etretat, the needles and glaciers on the Mont-Blanc route...

For Atout France and the Centre des Monuments Nationaux, which have joined forces with FlyView, the creation of this new experience is a sign of the partners' desire to support the dynamic recovery of tourism in France. Through this invitation to explore France, they hope to encourage the public to discover the tourism and heritage offerings of various French destinations.

"There are many ways to discover a destination: the immersive quality and realism of flight brings that little bit of magic that sets us apart.FlyView experiences immediately immerse the visitor in the heart of the image and the destination in a way that no other media can achieve." Julien Goupit, CEO of FlyView.

A breathtaking flight

Immersed in a journey of beauty, visitors discover France from an entirely new perspective: by flying, with an incomparable 360° view.

Between discoveries, little-known stories, incredible landscapes and historic architecture, visitors are led to discover breathtaking panoramas, monuments and places that make up the richness and splendor of France. Hovering over the abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel, visitors will touch the archangel who threatens the dragon from the top of the abbey.

"By offering a unique virtual reality experience that allows visitors to fly over a number of emblematic French sites and monuments, Flyview, the Centre des monuments nationaux and Atout France hope to provide visitors with an unforgettable spectacle and experience, emotions and memorable souvenirs, and thus give them the desire to further discover France's cultural and natural heritage. By partnering with Flyview and the Centre des Monuments Nationaux, Atout France is pursuing its strategy of supporting innovation and actively contributing to the promotion of France's cultural offering for tourism purposes," said Caroline Leboucher, CEO of Atout France.

To observe these places from the sky and to pass from one to the other almost instantaneously is a unique experience. Thanks to a very catchy production and the incredible sensations provided by the multiple passages of "free flight", the "Flight over France" is an ideal attraction for a fun and very original moment with family or friends.

A flyover made possible by advanced technology

This new flyover is a hybrid creation that combines 360° video with several new sequences in real-time 3D. Sometimes visitors are guided through a 360° image whose realism is reinforced by haptic devices (wind, jetpack movements on jacks); sometimes, at the bend of a virtual portal, they find themselves totally free to move around in real-time 3D landscapes that are as realistic as they are breathtaking.

Produced by the Parisian studio BackLight, a specialist in immersive reality, "Le Survol de laFrance" marks a new stage for FlyView, which is developing a more immersive technology for greater interactivity with visitors.

A technical device and record-breaking shooting

To achieve this feat, FlyView relied on several large-scale 3D scans and exceptional aerial filming across France in microlights and drones.

In figures: more than 30 days of 360° aerial filming in 10K for an exceptional image quality, more than 10,000km travelled, a hundred hours of 8K 360° images and some firsts in tandem flight: the Verdon gorges, the needles and the Mont-Blanc massif at an altitude of more than 4500m.

The experiment was also made possible by the creation of a highly accurate 3D model of Mont-Saint-Michel, produced with the help of drones by the Centre des monuments nationaux in 2022. This model, composed of several billion points, reconstructs, thanks to the technology of photogrammetry, the entire village and the abbey in volume.

For an optimal rendering of the real-time experience, FlyView has equipped itself with new HTC Vive Pro headsets with a combined resolution of 5K (4896 x 2448).

A totally new concept at the forefront of the new digital tourism

With this brand new "Fly over France", FlyView, Atout France and the Centre des monuments nationaux have a common ambition: to help people discover France by offering an original experience that will appeal to all generations.

The project offers multiple distribution opportunities in the FlyView network in France and abroad, in trade shows and cultural networks of France abroad. It is an asset to conquer new local and foreign audiences eager for new experiences.

"The Centre des Monuments Nationaux is pleased to partner with FlyView and Atout France to produce this spectacular "Over France", which I am sure will inspire a very large number of French and foreign visitors to learn more about and visit our country's great heritage sites. Philippe Bélaval, President of the Centre des monuments nationaux
